Sponsorship Choices

Hi all,

I hope all is going well with everyone training for the big London to Paris bike ride in September.

I wanted to start thinking about sponsorship and see what you all thought.

A few choices to think about – should we:

  1. all find a common charity we wish to get sponsorship for and have a team charity
  2. each find our own individual charity to get sponsorship for
  3. not worry about charity sponsorship at all

If we want to go down the sponsorship route then I will add details of this onto our site so that people can visit our website and complete the whole sponsorship process online.

Let us know what you think.

I think that the whole charity thing is a good idea, means that we are doing the trip for more of a purpose than just reaching a goal.
I think all doing it for one charity will be better – if we do it for individual charitys we could end up handing over cheques for £23.27 and that would just look silly for all that effort.
We should maybe all meet up one day in the near future so that we can discuss this and maybe go over the route with a fine toothcomb round a table to make sure everyone is happy with everything.

Maybe Ed could arrange a date and a place between all of us.

I also, for the 1st time have begun to develop saddle sores on my poor little derriere and have exhausted ha;f a pot of sudocream (thats gonna prove to be the most expensive part of the trip)

I am reluctance to agree with dave , but I do .
I believe that sponsership is a good idea, and that one cause would be better .

But can also foresee a issue with agreeing on one cause .

As for arranging I time to meet up I understand that we are all busy people .
So suggestions on a postcard of potential dates , I’m already thinking that a Sunday may be best .

Dave Gillham

Yeah – A Sunday in a Pub

Somewhere in Central London on Sunday the 26th July?

Dave Gillham

Sounds good – or we could drive up to richmond if you like?
Much nicer!

So, with less than a month to go, I think it’s time we sorted out our sponsorship page on this site.

Can you all let me know the charity you wish to cycle for as well as their official registered charity number.

I am thinking about using http://www.charitiestrust.org/ as there admin costs are only 4% and not 7% like many others. This means more of our hard earned sponsorship cash actually gets to the charities of our choice.

Guys and girls, I have added our sponsorship details to this website: http://www.london2paris.co.uk/sponsor-us/

Feel free to send this link around and start getting sponsorship.
