As stated in my last post, the realisation that I would have to pull my finger out became a reality.
So as I am lucky, I went for a ride whilst at work in full kit. And comparing my efforts with the training plan, pleasantly surprised. 10.2 Miles in 1.12hours with an average of 8.4 miles per hour.
I feel I should note that it wasn’t all fun , I did reunite a lost child with her mother.

That is very impressive mate, a great start!
As for re-uniting a child with her mother – that’s very different from the normal you. Your usually trying to get the girls away from their mother long enough to chat them up
This is an effort that evaporates when put next to my accomplishment last night…. although in the gym, which we all know is a hell of a lot easier i manged a round 7 miles in 20 mins….
As for you being in full kit, I was dressed in a Mr Blobby suit and doing it in a sauna…. thats how a real man trains….
As for the seperating of mothers and girls… thats wrong… thats all I have to say…
P.S The whole Mr Blobby thing wasn’t true, nor was the sauna… they wouldn’t let me in there when I was dressed up…
Not bad ’silver fox” Scott!
I managed to complete 30 minutes on the bike last night covering an acceptable 4.43 Miles with an average speed of 8.87 Mph…. I’m quite happy with that.
I am ok keeping to the training plan now as the rides are nice and short – although I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up in a few weeks time when they get much longer. I’ll give it a go though.
Hey guys, try to keep a note of the date, time spent cycling, distance travelled and average speed in miles for each bit of training you do. I will work out a way to add this information to the site shortly in ‘The Training’ page section so that we can track each other progress (and hopefully feel a little better that we are all struggling just as much) and hopefully be of help to others looking to train for such an event.
